It is with deep regret that we have to advise everyone that on Monday 19th August 2019, Graham Killingbeck passed away at The Christie Hospital in Manchester with his family by his side.
Many of the BLDSA community knew Graham well as he was a friendly and familiar face at a lot of our events. The support that he gave to his daughter, Hazel, to achieve her amazing swims was incredible.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS
Thursday 29th August at 1.45pm at the Rowan Chapel, Stockport Crematorium.
Buxton Rd, Stockport SK2 6LS
Followed by a celebration at the
Alma Lodge Hotel, 149 Buxton Rd, Stockport SK2 6EQ
If you are travelling, and require somewhere to stay the hotel have rooms available and there are lots of other hotels nearby.
If anyone has any photos they would like to share on the day, please send them to me directly hkillingbeck@hotmail.com
We are putting this out as a request to see if anyone would like to say a few words / tell a story on the day of the service in the crematorium. Again, let me know personally if this would be something you would want to do.
Thank you all ❤️

Dear Amanda
I have been meaning to drop you a line following Sunday’s event…
Colwick was my first BLDSA swim and as such I wanted to thank you and everyone responsible for organising such a brilliant event.
Having participated in a fair few organised events in recent years, my experience in Nottingham was – by a long way – the most welcoming!
I hadn’t realised how much of a difference it makes but as someone who tends to turn up on their own (and not uncommonly in a very real minority as a skins swimmer) how you greeted and briefed swimmers on Sunday was, to my mind, a winning recipe combining real warmth and great efficiency!
Thank you for a fantastically organised and thoroughly enjoyable event (after spending the first 3k working hard to ignore the dreary internal voice telling me to retire after 3 laps of the lake – thank goodness for Michelle!)
What a nice bunch of serious swimmers you are… I feel I may have happened upon ‘my tribe’. Now I need to work on my stroke…!
I look forward to getting more involved with the BLDSA (and hope in time to build my stamina for longer events!)
Very best, Cecilia
