Thorpe Park
This swim was on the BLDSA calendar for 22 years from 1979 to 2000. There were 3 secretaries; longest serving was Miss C. Everitt, 12 years. The Championship was transferred to Mercers Park in 1983 as the Thorpe Park Championship had been cancelled earlier that year. Although swimming was not permitted at Mercers Park, British Industrial Sand kindly allowed the use of the lake for this long distance event and also made a donation towards the purchase of trophies. The swim was 3miles long.
Windermere International

Schelde

The Fairhaven Championship (St. Annes) was set up specifically for Junior and ran for two years. The venue was switched to Langold in 1967 due to insecticide weed-killer in the lake.
Langold
This swim was on the BLDSA calendar for 20 years from 1967 to 1986. There were 5 secretaries; longest serving was K. Robinson, 10 years. The Langold Championships were held for a number of years after being moved from Fairhaven. Because of problems with locals joining in the swim after 2pm closing on Sundays the swim was moved to Waterloo Lake (Roundhay Park Leeds). Following problems with depth of water the swim was moved to Wykeham (near Scarborough).
