Congratulations to all the swimmers who took part in the Ireland 1km National Championships on Saturday 30th January. Water temperature 4.5 deg C
Again the BLDSA had a small band of devoted swimmers involved: (take note here gentlemen only the hardy ladies entered)
Sabrina Wiedmer broke the women’s world record for swimming an ice kilometre in Armagh at the Ireland Ice Swimming Association’s National Championships, with an outstanding time of 13 mins 58 secs.
Wendy Figures 16 mins 51 secs – beating the women’s British record
Amanda Bell 20 mins 42 secs
Helen Beveridge 23 mins 50 secs
Very well done all of you – an amazing achievement in what can only be described as extremely cold water swimming! A brilliant event by all accounts – well organised and well attended.
