Natural Spring Water Challenge
First event of 2025 and what an amazing success. Glorious sunshine helped all the swimmers achieve their personal goals. With a mix of young and old from all over the UK the swimmers enjoyed the 12 hours set in the beautiful surroundings of Matlock Baths Lido fed by the crystal clear geothermally heated spring waters.
I felt privileged to be there and share the day and the pool with so many great swimmers and such friendly people. There was a great calm but determined spirit throughout. I think you, the BLDSA, the pool people and the hotel deserve a big thank you. Between you, you managed to hit the right note between top-down well-thought-through organisation, planning, safety etc that such an event needs, and bottom-up community-fete atmosphere that makes all attending feel welcome and included, whatever their personal challenge on the day. I’m in awe of the mega achievements of the swimmers, and their nonchalant modesty, and felt pleased with my own efforts. It was a great day.
